Married: Nick & Ted at SFMOMA
Nick and Ted came to us with a clear vision for a modern, minimal design to celebrate their wedding. From the beginning, the expressed a desire to host a contemporary, non-traditional celebration. Formal sit-down wedding dinners had always felt too traditional for their taste. With their creative backgrounds and love for art, culture and great food, SFMOMA’s sculpture garden and terrace was the perfect venue for their cocktail-reception style wedding.
Nick and Ted’s color palette featured black, white, and grey with brushed gold, green, and plum accents. Nick designed all of their wedding invitations and signage, complete with hand-applique gold leaf. Sharla Flock Designs artfully designed textural floral arrangements set in matte black footed vessels. They consisted of seasonal foliage, ferns, begonia leaves, anthirium, hellebores, scabiosa, deep wine ranunculus, lotus pods, nut grass, clematis puffs, and other visually interesting elements in greens, deep plum, and accenting neutral whites.
Custom specialty cocktails, including a Zen Gimlet and Grapefruit-Rosemary Cooler, were served to guests during cocktail hour. Betty Zlatchin Catering curated an elevated food station menu for the grooms. With most of their guests traveling from out of town, Nick and Ted wanted to feature California cuisine and San Francisco favorites. Small plates featured delicious bites such as porcini & truffle ravioli and farmhouse style Tuscan chicken, inspired by the famous Zuni Café roast chicken.
Weddings don’t always have to follow a traditional, cookie-cutter format. We absolutely loved collaborating with this creative, design-forward couple on their stylish, outside-the-box wedding celebration.
